Not a problem, but I would choose a 5.700 inch length rod to increase wrist pin height....from a durability stand point.

Either is fine for your common street car.

What kind of piston rings should I look into?

A 3.75" stroke and a 6.00" rod generally means that your wrist pin area intrudes into your ring pack. That's not automatically a problem because everything depends on the context, but you certainly want to look at it more closely; especially if you plan to use more than one atmosphere of boost.

Many people who want the longer stroke and still want a longer than stock rod will choose to use a 5.85" rod specifically to avoid the ring pack problem.

Speaking of rods, I think that if I were building that engine I might choose a different rod. Not that there's anything wrong with Eagle rods, but there are other choices and they're worth investigating.

I was told depending on how much street or strip use to go either with the hellfire rings or the total seal gapless AP rings. I think the Hellfires are supposed to be a little stronger, but are actually too strong for a car you want to get more than a year or so without having to do a ring job as they supposedly are harsh on the bores. Im going with the Total Seals as my car is going to be a fairly extreme daily driver.

Well, no doubt... price points can make it tough and a budget is a budget; so that eliminates some possibilities right off. (Talking about stuff in the $750-1,000 range.)

Two items come to mind.
The first would be the Lunati Pro-Mod I-Beams, which are rated for 850hp, are available in 5.7, 5.85 & 6.0 and can be had from Summit for a bit under $700.
The second is the one that I think is really interesting and in fact I have chosen it for my current buildup.
In the interest of full disclosure I have to tell you that my engine is a long way from running, because I'm trying to buy a house and have my OWN budget issues. That means that I can't tell you how they ran in my engine... yet.
I'm talking about the PM (Powdered Metal) rods from Howards, which are rated at 800+ hp and the last I checked were selling for $600. They're only available in 6.0 and MAYBE 5.7 by now, but the 6" rids weigh 585 grams, which is 75 grams less than the Lunati rods I mentioned earlier and 85 grams lighter than the Eagles you mentioned.

As you probably know, the LTx used PM rods.

Anyhow, if you're interested you can have a read at Super Chevy

I personally plan to use them in a mild blown alcohol application, at about 750hp and I chose them in large part because of their light weight. Plus, I believe in the technology.

Re: What do you think?

Good info!

I see those rods are good for 8500RPMs

With the Lunati Sledge hammer, Diamond Blower Pistons, and the Pro Mod rods, with the right custom ground cam in there, how far away is an 8000RPM engine?

BTW I think it's best to go wit hthe 5.7 rods, since the Lunati crank is clearanced for the 5.7's

Re: What do you think?

With a large displacement smallblock and a turbocharger, why would you want to turn that many RPMs?

Re: What do you think?

Just a thought.

With the large displacement it will make more at less RPMS so there's no need too anyhow.
