vortech superchargers

they claim their superchargers will increase the hosepower on z28/ss/ta by 50% (320hp up to 470), any idea how much it actually increases on dyno?

50%...if you are gaining 50% flywheel you are also gaining 50% to the wheels. I know that's not exact, but close.

The base 6 psi kit will not gain 50%.

For reference, a stock LT1 will make around 240 rwhp.

With headers, cat-back, pulley, thermostat, CAI, and 1.6 rockers, they will make around 290 rwhp.

Add a 6 psi Vortech, and you're looking at about 370 rwhp.

I would make a guess that with your car you might see 15 hp/per # of boost. So figure you see 5 #'s you would gain about 75 additional hp from the blower . Not too shabby.

In the sig it says its an ls1 car, if this is the case, I have seen many bolt on ls1's on 5-6 psi make well over 450 rw. Go to ls1.com, some are putting out pretty impressive numbers, and some are not. Guess it depends on the tune, and what day of the weak the car was built.

Oops. I thought it was LT1.

Same goes for that, though. Not worth 50%.

I've seen several cam-only (stock head) LS1's make 400 rwhp and cam/head LS1's make 450 rwhp, so I wouldn't even entertain a blower for those power levels.

I agree, if you are just looking to make low 400's in an ls1, I would go w/ a heads + cam swap, IMO.

The LSx cars respond extremely well to boost. We put a Procharger D1SC system on a ZO6 and along with an exhaust system it made an additional 229rwhp! A gain of 65%. If you car to see the dynographs, go to www.kennedysdynotune.com and click on "Supercharged C5 Corvette" on the left hand menu. those gains were with 10psi though. Going to 8psi (safer) dropped the rwhp from 579 to 525, a bit more than 30hp/psi.

I gained 150 rwhp over stock with an 8# ATI tuner kit, tuned to 91 octane fuel. It makes 462rwhp with an incredibly safe tune, and a bonestock LS1, right down to the exhaust manifolds.

I would say that is not so. I could be wrong. However the head unit which is teh largest part is installed on the lower half of the engine really. Hint the fact it's installed from underneath.
By the way 1500 for the kit and aftercooler is an awesome deal...GET IT!!
