Vortech & Procharger ?'s

I am looking at some superchargers and turbos and what not and i came across these two kits..

What are the advantages and disadvantages of each kit? Which is "better"?

I would highly recommend doing a search on this question. IMO if you are planning to go with a big blower I would recommend going with a ATI-F1 blower. If you plan on going with a smaller blower than I would recommend going with an S-trim. I have owned an ATI P600b (biggest waste of money), D1SC (never had it on long enough to get a good evaluation and the ATI-F1(awesome blower).

For the LS1, or the LT1, I like the Vortech setups. Most work great out of the box, have minimal belt slippage, and are engineered to high standards.

You will need to notch your hood to have clearance for the head unit which will sit on top of the engine.

Need more convincing? You need to take the ATI head unit off to change belts on the LS1 setup.

Both the Vortech LS1 kit and the ATI D1 kits work well, but look around on sites to see what problems folks have with either kit.

I have a custom YS Trim on an LS1 with custom brackets and the Vortech customer server is top notch. I hope to go mid 9's.

I agree. Vortech S-trim for a "small" blower, Procharger F1 for a "big" un. Don't even think about going larger than an F1. You would have a devil of a time getting it to fit a 4th gen, let alone what you would possibly do with all the air something bigger might flow.

If you go big get a YS Trim or a YSi Trim I have yet to see an F1 LT1 or LS1 car go fast... I see Vortech big cars go faster with less boost. I think Madman might have had an F1 at the end but that would be the only example I can think of. Ron Duke is a F1R in case someone throws that car at me.

I thought Scott WS6 has a pretty impressive LS1 car with an F1. How much boost are you putting through your YS? Also I disagree with your statement on F1 guys running alot of boost. I only made 14lbs of boost through my F1 and made over 700 rwhp. Unfortunately I am still working on suspension and also working on a different intercooler. You have an extremely impressive setup on paper but nothing is proven until you put down numbers.

Yeah Chris has a sick car but I have not heard of any F1 guys running that much boost. Is Chris still running the standard YS-trim or the new YS-I trim. You are right there are not alot of fast F1 cars out there because the blower has only been out for a year and not alot of people have them. On the other hand the YS-trim has been around for a while.

The F1 is a good blower. Comparing times reflects the whole car, far more than just the blower. Dyno runs can also be misleading depending on the setup and conditions. Nothing wrong with the YS though.

They went 8.96 with the YSi, and saw a best mph of 159mph.

I think his best with the YS was 9.3x but that was with belt issues car should have went 9.2x.

Bob K. drive's Chris' car and he's gone 8.97@154 in his 86 Mustang with a 306ci, YS trim, and at 3300 raceweight.

If you look in the NMRA ranks most of the fast Renegade cars are YS or YSi cars.

When in doubt, for us F-car guys, let's see some mph and raceweights.

The five fastest LT1s of all time (EFI) are/were mostly Vortech cars.

I just know that F1's don't put up the numbers as often as it's better competitor the YS or now it's evil brother the YSi, which is the best race blower you can comfortably fit in a 4th gen.

Back to the question there both great blowers. For me being on a budget I went ATI/pro charger 3.6k for a new D1 and twin coolers. I dont like the vortech after cooler setup or the insane prices that follow em. Dont even buy a 600b or A trim, its just not worth it, just do heads cam. Not sure how the flow of a YS-trim compares to a d1, but I love my blower. Its nice and quit too.

Goals?
$$$$$$???
How much boost?

F1, 4,100lbs, 140mph (better reflection of hp than ET).
