vortech crank pulley depth

Im installing a used S-trim kit on my 93 LT1. The kit came with a 7" crank pulley and im not sure if its an old vortech pulley or a ASM designed for an aftermarket balancer. The kit didn't come with a balancer and i was planning on getting my stocker machined, but i don't want to do that and run into an alignment problem with the blower pulley. Any info to help me figure out if this will work is greatly appreciated before I put the $ into a stock vortech 6" pulley.

BTW-im hoping to use the 7" crank and get a 3.8" blower pulley machined to work with the LT1 kit for hopefully 6-8 pounds

Thanks, Kevin

I could measure one up for you tomorrow if you want, but I wont get to it tonight. I have a 6" one here which I don't need, I believe I am running a 6.6" or something like that right now. I have some of the blower pullies too.

That would be great. I'm not in a hurry, i'm in the early stages now

If you can measure from the surface that mounts to the balancer -- to the outside edge on the front; and the inside diameter of the hole in the middle(that the hub bolt goes through) that would give me an idea of what I have here. Much thanks

Ive got an ballancer that came with a vortech kit that was a S-trim. It came with the 6.66" crank pulley and is machined. If you dont wanna get yours machined, Id sell this one for $50.00 + shipping. It has about 5 k miles on it, then I switched to a SFI one. PM if interested.

OK, the depth looks real close to 3 5/8" not counting the 1/16" pilot ridge that fits into the balancer. The diameter of that part is about 1 3/4"

SWEET! Exact same dimensions as mine, so it should work with a machined balancer and an LT1 offset blower pulley. I'm guessing its the old Vortech 7" that i read on here they quit making. Thanks so much for the help, time to order my other pulley

BTW - would you guys go ahead and pull the hub and get it keyed if you were going for 6-8 psi? I know it isn't necessary but might be worth it?

thanks,
kevin

Stock engine? Might as well do it during the rebuild.

good point, I dont expect it to last more than 5k miles. I'm shooting for at least 450rwhp, 100 up from where it is now but i do have a alky kit. I just didn't know if the larger crank and blower pulley would put more strain on the hub since its more reciprocating<sp> weight.
