Video of my procharged 69Z28

borrowed the digital camcorder from work
and finally got some footage of the car in action. I didn't totally "unload" on it in the video, but there is a few times I crack it open pretty good. Mainly, it just gets a little too loose on the streets if I wind it up all the way. Still, with 3.73's in the rear, it gets up going pretty good.

let me know what you guys think.

thanks,

later,

Mike

Nice video man....I swear, I dont see you how you dont have problem with cooling. I mean, my intercooler only covers half the radiator and the my car is having problems cooling it self down. Im going to put a electris water pump on it and see what it does. Im already running with out a thermastat in the car now and it still does the same thing. *sigh* btw did i say that was a good video

no problems cooling so far and summer is at its peak. neveer goes past 200. aluminum heads prolly help, but the CSI pump flows 35 i think all the time so even at idle it is trying to cool down pretty good. no thermostat. the difference i think is in the fan. i have a permacool fan that flows 3000 cfm all the time as well. with the shroud it pulls some serious air. also the intercooler does have a 1" gap in front of the radiator support structure to allow some air to bypass.

thanks for the nice feedback.

beautiful car... sounds sweeeeeeeet too. Is that a blowoff valve you are running? the air discharge sounds cool, i want one too!!!! haha, that run you did at the end was PROPER, smash it in first, lighten em up shifting to second and pulling the whole time. One word, PROPER.

relief valve is a vortech mondo "bypass" to the open air.

the thermastat is there for a reason, it holds hot water in the radiator to be cooled then sent to the engine where the water from the engine is then cooled then cycled again, by having hot water contiully going around the engine it will only get hotter or have bad cooling effect.

i suggest you put a 160* stat in there and get you fans programed or timed to come on early, just my $.02

i ABSOLUTELY disagree with you and have run the car with a 160 degree thermostat and the average temp was 10 degrees more than without a thermostat (if not more). there is only one reason running without a thermostat could result in a higher temperature, and that would be the colling system foaming up. this may occur with a pulley driven water pump when running high rpm's, but since i am running an electric pump, it runs at 35-38 gpm all the time, and i can see that there is no foaming under my observation. assuming there is no foaming, running without a thermostat maximizes the the volume of heat transfer through the radiator. period. there is no benefit to slowing it down by having a thermostat unless you are creating foam and i am not. that is my opinion and i have proved it to myself already by trying it both ways with my car. just my experience. not trying to bash on your feedback, but i just disagree. a fuel injected car may be different since the electronics need some heat before it can go to closed loop O2 management system. thanks for the response though.

thanks,

mike
