Versafueler?

Ok ok ok....been doing some more research on the issue and how I wanted to NOT go this route due to funds etc yadayadayada.... and sticking w/ high Z 60# Siemens. Well screw the funds, if I'm going to go this route I may as well do it right the 1st time out.

The 3 questions I have though is this. Why are so many for sale? Searching on here I've seen a lot, now is this due to everyone switching over to a stand alone unit to handle their fuel concerns or some other reason I haven't found out about yet.

2. Is anyone running one right now w/ cats? I've read alot regarding how they can't work well at idle and stay in open loop and being rich etc. That's my main concern over anything else actually.

3. What size? 72's or 83's? Most will say depends on what you are trying to do etc and I understand that. 700rwhp is the goal and nothing more and it's a wkend car more than anything else. I know details are needed so here's a brief description.

401ci, LT1 ported heads 2.00/1.56, 279/196 cfm @ .550
232/242 115 LSA .544/.560 @ .050, AFR rev kit
12 rib D1SC 14psi 4.5" twin IC's, SDCE tensioner, race by pass valve
-31cc Ross pistons
KB boost-a-pump, 255 Racetronix pump, 72 or 83's inj's and versafueler

Thanks for any comments.

Re: Versafueler?

I used Carroll's Superfueler for years and was quite happy with it. The SF is boost referenced and adjustable. IOW, you can program in a fuel/boost curve with it. So, it is not providing any fuel until the desired boost level is reached. If the Versafueler is similar, there should be no idle issues. But I really don't much about the unit.

I had 50lb "main" injectors and three 160lb'ers in the SF for a bit over 700rwhp.

Re: Versafueler?

I think he's referring to a Versafueler (impedence converter) as opposed to the Superfueler (3 additional injectors).

Re: Versafueler?

Got it and love it. Stock PCM, LT1 edit and 72's. 130.6 mph in the 1/4 with a 10# S-trim on a budget 396ci LT1 3850lb extra weight M6 95 TA.
It idles perfect and can drive in traffic no probs. With a cc305 and stage 1 heads (stock size valves-stock TB and intake) and high flow cat it passed Ont. Can. emissions which are pretty tough. I'd spend the money again.

Re: Versafueler?

Use it with a 383 D1 15psi and 72# Simens injector. Use a Spearco air/ air intercooler. LT1 edit version 2.2 is also needed. A great tuning tool. OK idel with a 231/ 240 144lsa blower cam. Don't like to get stuck in traffic with a M6 and spec #3 clutch. Once your rollin, it's OK.

Re: Versafueler?

I have it with 84's. It works fine, but I think the 84's are a little harder to tun in than the 72/75's. Mine is a little slow to start and has a lean hesitation on tip-in. Other than that, it idles fine and cruises fine.

Re: Versafueler?

Thanks guys for all the responses. I had to change over to my other name since that one was giving me trouble. I'll be picking up one up along w/ the 83's. Overkill rather than underkill and more money as a result of not taking into account my right foot not being satisfied. Thanks again guys!

Re: Versafueler?

I use it with siemans 72# er's and it works great, The cool thing is if you ever need to go back to high impedance injectors you don't have to remove the versafueler, It works with both high and low impedance injectors.
