Upgrading ATI pulleys/boost...
Upgrading ATI pulleys/boost...
I am planning on some major mods this summer.. to include a P1SC-1. I understand that on a stock headded LS1 you can only run about 5-8lbs of boost.
When I eventually, year later, upgrade my heads to a 225cc AFR, and find a cam that will fit...... should I run more boost? I would think so, right?
Where can I get pulleys to help w/ this??

Re: Upgrading ATI pulleys/boost...
If you upgrade heads... at this time you can drop your compression with a larger combustion chamber. This will allow you to run more boost & therefore a significant power increase. Ive done quite a few heads/cam cars that range between 530-630 rwhp with 8-11# boost on stock bottom ends.
With stock compression, I would stay below 8# boost & with 9.7 compression I've done 11#, but I would recommend you stay below 10# on a stock bottom end no matter the compression just to be safe.
If planning these engine modifications in the future, start out with the D-1SC charger instead as it has ample capacity to grow with your mods. The cost difference is minimal & it will still work with the stock motor.

Hmm.... D1SC, Eh? Sounds good. I was reading an article about upgrading to SC setup and they recomended the NGK T6 plugs. Any other sugestions on how to avoid detonation on an otherwise stock motor?
I DO plan on the 225 AFR heads w/ in the next year if I do the SC first.
