Re: Twin Turbo

So you are saying turbocharging a 4th gen and doing it right is not expensive And attempting to make 1,000rwhp at that. Even if you do it yourself you are only saving a couple grand. FYI I already know how to TIG weld ( stainless and aluminum mostly). Its not that i cannot build a kit on my own, I dont have the spare time to complete it and build an engine. I am VERY busy with work. Dislike prduction kits all you want but most of the home built stuff I have seen is total and complete garbage. I want everything to not only perform but look good at the same time. I had the money to buy the best and that is what I did. Disagree if you like, but I have a kit that is proven to perform. And I could care less about bragging that i built it. I put it together along with the rest of the car, so everything else is mearly interesting.

Re: Twin Turbo

Any type of forced induction is going to be expensive. But the "couple grand" you save by doing things yourself can be put into a 9" rearend, a transmission rebuild, a killer fuel system, etc...

Is there a right way to install a turbo on a car? Look around and you'll find dozens of different ways to install them. Some work better than others, but in general, they work.

Even PTK's kits started out as somebody's idea and was eventually turned into what it is now.

Re: Twin Turbo

If you call 4 grand expensive for doing something right... Expensive in my book would be a Ligenfelter twin C5 turbo kit to the tune of $25,000. IMO there is nothing fancy about the PTK kit that would make it perform any better or worse than anything else. Hell the gen 1 kit used a production MAC header for the passenger side. The new one is 2 tubular headers with some pipe coming together at a turbo... WOW. I'm sure anyone could put together some production headers and some piping and make it perform equally well for a whole lot less money, the mustang boys have been doing it for years. This isn't Rocket Science. Pay attention to minimizing bends and make good flow transitions and you'll have a good turbo kit. Make a motor that will handle the power and add a good turbo and your in there!

Don't forget, you'll need another $25,000 for the 427 to go with the turbo kit.

Re: Twin Turbo

I can see your point in some respects, but I have seen alot of half assed home built stuff that is anything but efficient! And as far as me spending $4,000 to do things right, Im more in the $10,000 range with everything needed for close to 1,000rwhp. On the other hand I have seen some really nice home built stuff on here.
