?turbos (kind of tech) ?
?turbos (kind of tech) ?
My friend might get two T-3s as a trade for some parts and this is what the guy had to say: He (my friend) is worried about the axial play. Would it be worth getting? Thanks
QUOTE]I have two T3's .60/.63 that I may part with, but if I do sell them I am only selling them as a pair. I will not split them. . Right now I am waiting on two 1/2 inch weld flanges for the turbine housings that I ordered about 2 weeks ago. I have purchased a supercharger but I am not real sure I really want to let go of the turbo's.
I bought the turbos about 4 months ago to start a twin project. They have not been rebuilt. They only have slight axial play in the shafts, and there is no evidence of oil residue in the turbine housings, which would indicate a bad seal and the cause of the puffs of oil smoke on acceleration. I removed the compressor housing and turbine housing from one of the turbos just to inspect both of the wheels. The turbine housing on that turbo is going to be replaced with a reman unit which is 50 bucks. I can get that from Majestic turbo here in Dallas. Bot of them appear to be in good shape. Yesterday UPS dropped of the 1/2 Weld flanges that I order 3 weeks ago, so if I sell the trubos the new flanges will be included. These are very nice flanges, and won't warp like the cheap 3/8 flanges, to aid in building your own manifold setup.
Since I will replace the one exhuast housing with the reman unit that will put me at 500.00 in the turbos. I have no issues with installing them as they are without a rebuild, and am still not 100 percent sure I want to part with them, but then again, I need other items for my Procharger setup.
