Turbocharger installed for under $3,000.

I went to my local shop trying to find out how to add more power to my 3.8, he said that I can get my car turbocharged for about $3,000 and twin turbo'd for about $4,000. Does this sound reasonable? I'm guessing at least a 100HP increase over stock with the single turbo, right? I just want more power out of my 3.8 without swapping out my engine for an LT1 or LS1.

Any comments or tips would be appreciated.

someone correct me if im wrong.........but heres my math

bigger fuel injectors $300
bigger fuel pump $150
custom dyno tuning $300
turbo head unit $600+
intercooler $500-1000
oil lines/fittings $100
wastegate $250
blow off valve $150
manual boost control $80
clamps, bands, etc for piping connections $50?

thats about $2500-3000 in necessary parts

then factor in the price of all the piping you need for your exhaust manifolds and plumbing, and intake plumbing.

then add labor to weld up all that stuff.

i just dont see how you could get a decent turbo kit for under $3000 using new components

however, you could get a used turbo for cheap............used intercoolers from the junkyard...........and you already had bigger injectors/fuel pump.........and bought the misc stuff (blow off, wastegate, boost control) all used.

then you could do it cheap.

The price includes the intsallation of the turbo itself, not including the cost of new exhaust and an intercooler, that would cost extra. And that "Custom Dyno" thing, I don't think they would do, I would get my chip programmed elsewhere.

But for an installed turbo, 3G's ain't bad.

uhhhh...........so what exactly are they doing for 3 grand?

are they fabricating exhaust manifolds to mount the turbo?
