Thanks, Bob
The starter kit is more basic. Plain ol' turbo, no intercooler, average BOV, WG.. The more expensive kits include an intercooler, piping for the IC, better BOV, better wastegate, prolly a slightly better turbo.

Thanks for the info.

I am curious, though, what kinds of additional parts, modifications, enhancements, etc. are needed which could add the extra $5000 or so that CALL911 mentioned in his post (above and beyond the cost of the kit itself)?

money aside...a turbo is better off if you compare them evenly. If you compare them by equal peak HP numbers the turbo will out perform the supercharger everytime.so theres your performance aspect answer. Money wise...you can get there cheaper with a supercharger

this issue has plagued me for quite some time. The turbo cars are great. But I can get 700 hp with the stock computer with a SC, the turbo cars don't have that option. Have you priced aftermarket fuel management?

A D1 gets a listed price of around 6000, you can get them cheaper. The other 4-5000 is spent in supporting mods, fuel system, clutch/tranny, dyno time, and I would hope safety equipment.

Turbos can be run with stock ecu as well... the stock ECU doesnt provide the most efficient tuning for boosted applications (ECU doesnt know if its a turbo or S/C making boost). In fact the stock ECU doesnt even recognize boost. there are ways around that though, but S/C and turbo can both be run with a tuned stock ECU.

I've read very limited posts on rescaling the MAP tables, but nothing definitive. Would you care to direct me to some info. Quite frankly the ECM aspect of a turbo is what is currently keeping me away.

Don't worry about the ECM. You can tune it using the PE table. It's not the best way to control things, but up to about 15 psi, it will work reasonably well.
