Turbo Update
Turbo Update
After a minor transmission setback, I'm getting back into development. The Centerforce DF clutch wasn't holding on the 275/50/15 Nittos unfortunately. You could smell the clutch after every run but it was atleast making it to the end of the track without bouncing the revlimiter. In addition, I hurt the 2nd gear syncro which caused it to pop out of gear all the time. Damn the bad luck. Even still, it set a new best ET of 11.84@126 with a 2.3 60'. This was a few weeks ago. Of everything I've been expecting to break, the transmission wasn't the on the list!
I've been dying to try an auto with this kit so I decided to swap in a TH400 with a TCI Street Fighter stall (3600ish). I had a very strong (and heavy) 3.5in D/S made and had to fabricate a crossmember mounted torque arm mount. Not pretty by any stretch of the imagination however it's a strong peice. The shifter is a B&M Hammer installed within the orignial 6sp console and shifterboot. No gear selction indicator but it looks clean.
The hope is that the stall will let me spool the turbo hard and reach full boost an instant after launch. I also scored a set of 26x11.5x16 ET Streets on Original Chrome 5 Star Camaro rims. It's still on the original 10bolt without so much as a diff cover so launches will remain conservative for a while.
For everyone going to SLP Day in Ennis Tx, this weekend, I plan on being there for those wanting to take a look at it. The car still does not have subframe connectors or a roll cage so high powered fulltrack passes will be limited to stay within the ET constraints of the saftey equiptment currently on the car. This will be done by adjusting the boost levels to allow full track runs and higher boost 1/8" mile runs. There will be a proof of concept run however.

I wish I was in Texas to check this this beast out. I've been dying to see it in action as well. Any chance I could get pictures emailed??? It'd help pass the time over here. Ha Ha Ha Good luck with the new set up and take care.
Well, another setback. I got the trans in but it barely shifts into 2nd. Bad out of the box. It's going to get fixed but not until next week. Soooo, last ditch effort is that I am taking a friends 4L60E out of his down LS1 car, swapping a bellhousing off of a dead 4L60E from a 94 LT1 car and using yet another friends Yank 3k. No computer controls at all. I'm not totally sure it will work but I've busted my *** this much to prep make this car run, it will run come hell or high water.
It's a white and orange 1997 30th av Z28. It will be the one that sounds like an F16.
I've got video from the big end of the track on a night a while back and all you hear coming at you is turbine! Now I just have to get something go convert it from the old Super 8 to mpeg.

Well, I have never seen an LS1 4L60E. Maybe they do have a bellhousing that unbolts. But I have seen an LT1 4L60E and the bellhousing is one piece with the rest of the case.
How you would swap those is beyond me.
Sounds to me like you are SOL.

Ok here is what I found out. 4L60Es came with two different cases. 95 and earlier came with the 1 peice cases and 96 and later had two peice cases which you can remove the bell housing from the case. Unfortunately, the LT1 4L60E I have access to is a 94. Soooo vote is still out.
