Turbo questions

I want to do a single, but im not able to decide on what type of tubing for the turbo manifold.I have in mind a 3/8 thick flange with 1 3/4 diamiter tubes. What would be best?Would the type of turbo that im considering have a factor in the tubes sizes?I got these turbos in mind--------->

Garret T72 turbocharger

-Intake A/R is .60

-Exhaust A/R is 1.34

-Input Diameter is 5 inches O.D.

-Output Diameter is 3.5 inches

-Exhaust Diameter is 4.5 inches.

or a 91 mm Precision turbo.

Pretty big turbos might I say

Hp goals no lesser than 700+on a single. My bud and I Looked at a couple of maps but still uncertain.I was thinking at first going twin with two turbonectic T72's...but later decided on a single instead.

I think that's what I'm going to use on my 76. What are you using for material? Mild steel or stainless?

700hp? a SINGLE t72 would do it no problem.

a 91mm is like 1500hp, ditto on twin 72s...

a t76 with the new Q trim/R wheel will be plenty

700 rwhp with a t-72 is doable, I would personally prefer a lil more turbo ie 76-88 range. You could always buy my single (t-100 bb) I would do a 1.75" tubing for your setup and run it into the turbo using a smooth flowing y pipe setup. I only use stainless personally but that is cause of personal experiences with mild steel seeing what happens over time with it.

Placement of the turbo is all relitive to what you want in the engine bay though IMO and what you are willing to move around. If you move stuff around then your options are opened up alot more. If you want to leave everything in one position then your gonna limit yourself

Your right 700hp is doable with a T-72,but just imagine what twin T-72 might do.,but a T-72 just alone aint gonna cut it.So Why the reason for a big turbo?Single I like single setups. As far as the tubing goes we will be using 321 SS for the exhaust and 304 SS for the intake.Im still unable to decide on the flange thickness.Ideas?

Humm what goes on the end of this set of headers lol
Humm t-66's maybe lol

Twin t-72's you are in the 1600 hp range. In a stock blocked setup you can do it but would I no.. Granted I do things people think are wrong but its what make the world go round.

Reason for my using the t-100?? I have a goal and going to need a big turbo to reach the goal.

I run alum tubing to my intake no reason for the weight for stainless 304 for the intake tubing. I used mild steel for the downpipes then had them ceramic coated.

I used 1/2 inch flanges for a solid foundation. One thing I would recomend is the stall flange conversion setup. I have the stahl mounts and do not regret it they are just plain awesome. 10 mins and my headers are off.

t-76 will do it no problem..

u have to realize..to make things eaiser for u, the avg joe doesn't max out a turbo to its "rated max hp".

so instead of shooting for something that's supposed to do 700hp, just get a bigger turbo that'll do it even easier.

For my twin turbo setup i have a 2-230 air-water intercooler in either fender. (one on each side) The other side is identical to that one. I had finished the setup then pulled out the twins to run a single thumper.

Hi Guys,
just joined, awesome site,

When you call a turbo a t-76, t72, t-100 etc, Is that the inducer diameter on the compressor side or the exducer diam.

thanks
