Turbo Experts in here please

Moving 72lbs per minute... that should support 700whp right?

49lbs per minute supports 460whp.

What is the exact formula for that? How does this work? Can anyone help me out here?

The benchmarks are used on SRT4 motors just incase that's a question.

Re: Turbo Experts in here please

The rough equation is 100 hp for every 10 lb/min of air moved. The exact numbers are widely dependent on humidity and temperature.

You've never seen some of the ecotech drag cars making 1000+ hp?

Re: Turbo Experts in here please

it depends on engine variables. check here:
http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...o_tech103.html

scroll down to where you see:

theres a good equation to figure it out.
Wa = Airflow in lb/min
HP = horsepower
A/F = air/fuel ratio
BSFC/60 = brake specific fuel consumption ÷ 60 (to convert from hours to minutes)

for a 720 horsepower engine:
Wa = 720(horsepower) * 12(air/fuel ratio) * .55/60 (BSFC/60)
that comes out to 79.2 lbs/hour.
