Tired of filling the bottle - 383 Blower Build

This will be my official build page for the rebuild of my 97 Trans Am. The engine that was just pulled was a stock shortblock with a a head/cam nitrous setup. It ran well but I figured its time to step it up. Plus, nitrous is annoying difficult to get filled within 30 min of me so this should fix the issue

Good to see another convertible out there. Take plenty of disasembly pics so you can remember how everything goes back together in several months.

Re: Tired of filling the bottle - 383 Blower Build

Should be a nice combo. I would keep the LT1 PCM as it works fine with boost. In one of the iterations of my '95 I made over 700rwhp through a race converter with the factory PCM.

Figure I would throw in some pics of the pretty stuff. Awaiting a few parts to get the rotating assembly balanced.

And so it begins...

Let me just say I hate piston rings and it will be too soon if I ever have to gap them again. This process took most of the day but nothing to rush here. I will work on this more tomorrow as I took the day off of work to keep playing with it. Everything was within spec and went together fairly well.

Re: Tired of filling the bottle - 383 Blower Build

Update time!

Well I was able to get the car ready for the dyno tune and headed down to Race Proven Motorsports in Delaware to get the job done. They came very well recommended and it was a solid choice. Fran and his staff were simply top notch. I don't think I've ever felt more comfortable handing my car over to another shop for any kind of work. The lounge was also comfortable and helped keep me relaxed in between dyno pulls.

The results are below and I'm very very pleased with the numbers. I was hoping for anything over 650rwhp and the car did even better. RPM mentioned that it will pick up a bit more with some miles on it but again, I'm very happy with the way everything went. Being the car was not pushed this hard up to this point, a couple minor issues came up but were resolved. As I planned, the driveability is much improved over the old heads/cam setup with the cc306 and spec 3 clutch. The rest is up for me to finish up and get it all set for the open road and eventually the track.

Big thanks to the South Jersey Pals, my close friends, and family

On to the numbers and video.
