Thinking about going OBX..Couple questions
Thinking about going OBX..Couple questions
My current setup consists of a d1sc and twin highflows...ive been offered a great deal on the OBX cooler. What dimensions do you guys typically run on this intercooler? Are they all the same? The one im looking at is 23" wide (31" with endtanks) 11.75" tall, 3" thick...endtanks diameter is 3" too. Im looking to upgrade now because ive got a 355 build coming up very soon. Will i see a significant drop in IAT's from a front mount over the twin highflows? Does anyone have any old piping theve fabbed up and not using anymore? Id buy them for sure...
my twin highflows are the 3.5 inchers not the new 4.5 inch models

Re: Thinking about going OBX..Couple questions
I have one, 24x12x3, but it's mounted in the garage right now since there's no blower on the car at the moment. Do a search on LS2.com, there's a few people who are using them with good results.
Re: Thinking about going OBX..Couple questions
yea i posted the same question on ls2.com, but the FI threads seem to have died lately...much more responses here...anyone think the obx will be worth it over the twin ic's i have now? Will it increase boost pressure?
Re: Thinking about going OBX..Couple questions
Check over at ls1tech - there are several threads about the OBX intercoolers over there, and I know that the OBX vs the ATI twin intercooler topic has been touched on before.
The OBX was found to be a significant upgrade over the ATI twin intercoolers. Less pressure drop across the core, and a much better IAT reduction compared to the ATI setup to boot. For the money, I don't think the OBX can be beat - IF you don't mind doing some pretty hands-on fabrication.

Re: Thinking about going OBX..Couple questions
we have a 24*12*4, Havent messure the pressure drop over it but the IAT is lower now on 17psi compared to 13psi on twin IC.

Re: Thinking about going OBX..Couple questions
This is the intercooler I use: http://www.blitz-performance.com/Bli...rcooler_LM.htm
It measures 24"x12.5"x4". I had to cut out about half of the bumper support mount on each side to make it fit and weld up some mounting tabs, but it fits perfect once it's in there!
