Tech questions about Procharger D1R for the experienced peeps
Just got a used D1R and first off noticed the pulley has alot of in/out play. Feels like 1/2". On a turbo I would definitely say something's wrong. I'm not familiar with superchargers so is this normal? I figure they might have made the pulley this way to center itself on the belt
My second question is about the oil lines. I have what looks to be two -6an lines going to the unit. Is one in and the other out?

Re: Tech questions about Procharger D1R for the experienced peeps
There should be very little play. 1/8" would be excessive.
As for the oil lines, there should be one with a brass connection & a 90deg adapter on the side. it is the oil inlet. If this charger was in a different orientation than how you are installing it, this will need modified/changed. If you change the orientation, the oil will not spray in the proper location. This will require shipping to procharger as they do not sell these components separately. The drain should be at the bottom & is a 3/8" pipe thread.
My advice is to send it in for service. They can set it up for your application & also verify it is in good working order. This is safer than it spitting parts into your motor because it is damaged.
To all others...... please be aware of what you are buying. These chargers are specifically setup for what they are installed on. Using them in a different application/position will cause you problems. Also unless you can buy a complete kit for your exact car, you will likely spend a lot of money on accessories. I routinely have guys spending $500-$1000 to get all the missing components for it to fit their car. Crank pulleys, brackets & tensioners are not cheap. This is only slightly less frustrating than having your used charger break the following week.....
Unless you can find a complete kit in running condition where you can see it run & also verify you got everything in the kit, be very cautious.

D-1R will fit a D-1 bracket but requires mods (grinding) to the face of the engine block & rotation of the scroll to clear (the discharge essentially has to point towards where the tire touches the ground) or you have to space everything forward which interferes with the rad, fans etc.

This is a custom application going into an RX7. I'm not using a kit and replacing the unit. I'm well aware of the custom brackets/fittings I'll need to get. BTW, what are you talking about when you say changing the orientation? Why would someone do that? The compressor housing rotates just like a turbo and should be all anyone would need to do as far as making custom brackets for a custom app. That being said, there are two oil lines on the unit and they are literally 2" from each other. That's why I'm confussed on which is inlet or outlet. No brass fittings or 90* fittings.

I just love being criticized for helping others......I tried to add info that could also help others reading this, so be a little considerate of those trying to do you a favor.
I made no assumptions.... your application does not change the reply as it is the same regardless of anything it is installed on.
The orientation does not refer to the scroll rotation, but the physical rotation of the transmission. The pulley does not have to be at the top of the charger. It can be located in any position but will starve for oil if it is positioned other than the way it was originally intended.
You need the oil fitting that I described for proper oiling. It sprays the bearings. If you do not have it, send the charger back & get it corrected. Your fittings are likely incorrect & based on the play in the unit, it needs repaired. Good luck.

Hmm
Let me think.
You come to an F-body discussion board and ask a question about blowers in the blower section on an f-body discussion board. Then have an attitude because one of the best f-body blowers guys on the PLANET answers a question where he may (or may not) have assumed you were referring to an F-body application.
Not to mention he says....
"To all others..."
How i grant you that your nickname suggests yur situation is unique but a simple....
"Actually I installing this in an RX7 so I know I will have some custom work to do...." would probably have served you better then, "I hate it when people assume....."
However, I will grant you that you added a smilley so perhaps we all mistook your "attitude".

You guys are funny. I'll probablly end up calling Procharger whe the time comes. The unit I have might be different or the old style. I have two -6an lines on the bottom of the unit and that's it. The concern came up because I wouldn't think a feed line would be that big
