T56 failure

Just took the car out today, and after a pull in 3rd gear the trans is howling like crazy in the first 4 gears, and also makes a hell of alot of noise just idling in neutral with the clutch out.

This was a 93 T56 with the 2.97 1st gear.

I'm trying to decide if I should go with this -

Or a 4L80

Or, build a naturally aspirated car with half the horsepower and 1/10 of the breakage.

Id say get the G-force tranny, it 'll be hell of alot more fun than getting a 4l80e. a far as decreasing the hp just to minimize the amount of breakage. Well, it comes with the terrotory. Things break when you putting alot of hp and torque to the greound. Wasnt that 93-t56 a stocker anyway?.

Jim, if you are seriously interested in going back to NA, I would be interested in working out a deal with you on my brand new NA motor for your stuff. Should do 600rw NA.

Sorry about the failure....I know how it goes.

Since you don't do that much drag racing I saw go with the G-Force T-56 or maybe a normal T-56 with the Viper upgrades.

Noo, your car is way too badass to go with an auto or go back to NA. Just get a fresh t-56 with all the upgrades/goodies
It is your car and you can do what you want but I dont think I would personally. You can still drive the LT4 if you want stock.

TH 400 w/ a brake and a gear vendors over/under drive. You still have to shift and you'd still have a 6 speed Thats my plan after the tranny dies.

I would stick with the stock T-56 and do a few upgrades. If its not a track car then the syncro upgrade might be all you need. On the street these things can handle your kind of power. Unless there is a difference on quality from 93 to 94+

I bought an upgraded stock unit (called a stage 4 bulletproof T56) for $1850 shipped from Rodney Massengale. No core is required. He works at a tranny shop in Indiana. I have yet to install it due to other engine delays, but it is apparently upgraded to Viper specs & he was recommended to me by others. He is a reputable seller as well, the first one he shipped was broken by FedEx, who screwed him around on the damage claim. He built another one & shipped it to me then paid for freight to get the broken one back.
