Supercharger question

Can anyone help explain the difference between these 2 superchargers. I dont know the exact names, but, there is the kind like the P-1S-C or s-trim that looks more like a turbo, and you have the mustang type kenny bell superchargers that replaces your intake manifold. Can anyone help me here? Whats the difference? Is one type better than the other?

Roots Style Blowers are the type that set directly on top of the intake and then have carb or injection setup above them,

a centrifical "spelling problems" style supercharger is the vortech etc that your thinking of that push air from the charger to the carb or injection setup.

Most people on this board would suggest the procharger, I have one and have seen great results. However, and this is my experience so don't start flaming me guys, they haven't been able to fix an obvious and minor issue for me after two rebuilds so I'm pretty pissed at them.
