Question supercharger or prochager

what do u have to do to your motor..like how well can the heads hold boost and how strong is the bottom end..i would change piston to low compression.if that will help..i don;t want to make crazy amount of power just enough.i have full bolts .i have a 1995 lt1 103,000 miles on it

procharger is a supercharger..... think you might wanna look through the FI section on here and read as much as you can b/c you will see all different types of setups and what people "think" about different setups. LS1tech.com has a good forced induction section too that will help figuring out the basics. i would say p1sc or something myself but i think superchargers are gay... have fun either way.

Question

you haven got too many replies so far because your asking a newbie question. But im feeling nice so ill help you out.
If your going to throw boost at the motor your going to need to buy new piston since the ones in our motors are crap. Second would be the compression, 10.5.1 is not ment for boost. 8.1.1-9.5.1 is where you want to be. Next is the cost, building a 500rwhp motor is not something cheap. The blower is 4k, rear end 2k,rebuilt motor4-7k,trans1500, fuel 1k.
You may not realize it but supercharging your car is going to cost 10 maybe 15 thousand. Your taking a car that roughly has 250rwhp and doubling it. Everything in the entire car needs to be replaced.
If you have money for it buy a procharger or intercool a vortech somehow. Rebuild the motor with forged pistions and rods and reuse the stock crank. Stock heads and a small cam with 10psi will net you around 500rwhp with a m6.
good luck

Any boost level on an LT1 has the potential to pop the motor. If this is your daily driver, dont add boost. If you don't care if the motor pops, then boost it (not saying it will happen right away... but after some time).

He's right...my z28 was a DD and I added a procharger on the stock motor and my ring lands broke on 2 pistons..its generally not the best idea to boost a stock LT1, but there are people who have gotten 50,000 miles + on a stock motor. It depends on tuning, how you drive it, and detonation prevention.
