supercharger advice!!!!!
I've been thinking about building a stroker motor for my 92rs. I would like to know if I would be able to use a supercharger with the stroker motor. Does a supercharger work better with a high or low compression motor? Any info would be appreciated.
a SC will work with a stroker motor. A lower compression motor will give you the ablity to run lower octane fuel with a SC. Before you slap a blower on the motor you first have to set out a plan on what you want to achive (HP wise) then setup the fuel, ignition, cooling, drivetrain etc of the car to handle the power. Can you slap a blower and go? Yes but the question is how long.
SC - $2500 - $4200 with intercooler
383 - $2300 - $5800 Forged, 4-bolt splayed, ported heads, etc.
Ignition - $600 - $1000 Boost retard etc
Trans upgrade
12-bolt rear or 9-Inch
Fuel Pump, Regulator, and Injectors...
Depends on how much power you want...

Like already stated definitely go with a low compression. I would say between 8:1-9:1 would optimum. I will probably go with 8.5:1 when I do my rebuild this winter. Obviously with the lower compression you lose power, but you are able to up the boost to make up for that. Depending on how much power you want would determine how much you are gonna spend just like Wild1 said. I feel like with a fairly low compression and a good tune a blower motor will last for a long time.
Not only low static compression, but also low DYNAMIC COMPRESSION. (Caps to show emphasis
) You can build a 9.4:1 static compression but run 7.8:1 dynamic compression. There are calculators which can help you out there...
