Supercharged AND Turbocharged?
Someone posted a question like this a while ago, and the answer is yes, it is possible. Some WWII plane engines were both super and turbocharged. Not really cost effective or the best way to produce boost, especially on a car. I believe the WWII engines were designed that way to produce power in the lower altitudes with the supercharger when air was still dense and then at the higher altitudes and more power was needed from the engine the turbo kicked on to supplement the super to further compress the thin air. Anyone else have more info on this?
He was talking about some newer car, an import. Like a 240SX, something like that. So not likely, but possible? Can someone explain in how, in a car, it would be done. Like would the turbo and s/c go directly to the motor or would the turbo feed the s/c or etc?

I would think that packaging the turbo/supercharger setup would be easier with STS's setup. With the turbo in the back, I don't see it being too difficult to run a Procharger or Vortech as well.
I work with it too much!!!
detrot diesel has a engine, (called the 92 series, stands for 92 cubic inches per cyl) they are made on v-4, v-6, v8, v12, and v16 configerations. there is a bucnh of them that have both, the turbo feeds directly into the inlet ofthe blower. these things still dont make a ton of power compared to modern diesels. (they are on the small side )

The orange opel in the last race in this clip http://home.koping.net/u3243a/images...%20blandat.wmv have a eton? supercharger and turbocharged volvo engine.
about the trap speed. its Km/h take the number and split it with 1.61=mph

Seen a picture of it done on an old skool dragster. It was a pretty cool concept. I guess they wanted the roots blower to get it off the line, and the turbos would then kick in and pressurize the top of the blower...which I would guess really wouldn't increase inlet pressures that the motor would see, but I could see how it might remove some of the drag of the blower on the motor and possibly some of the temperature caused by the blower because of its inefficiency when pushing boost in the 30-40 psi range or above.
There was a first gen MR2 in a sport compact car ultimate street car contest that was blown and turbocharged, but they said the transition between the two produced a flat spot. I'm not sure how it was set up, possibly with a butterfly or some sort of valve that allowed the turbo to pressurize the intake once it spooled.

I did this on my Chevelle about 20 years ago. Didn't really make any more power with both though as they kind of just fed each other. If I'd had enough time and money to dial it in, I think it could have performed well though. I'd say best option is just put a good turbo setup on. Having run alot of blower setups, they make way more low end than you can put to the ground for street use anyway and then when you do finally have the traction they don't have the top end that you have with the turbo.
If you want to impress a bunch of people that don't know much about cars, then by all means build it and even if it doesn't work very good, it will still be impressive to onlookers. You should also throw a couple NOS bottles in the back too, even if you don't hook them up.
Oh, and it does sound extremely mean though. At least mine sounded real intimidating.

I understand it was difficult to even start and get on the trailer, much less run it...

Oooooohhhh, yeah........... I remember that. Remember that big science fiction looking post-apocalyptic go-everywhere-over-anything RV he made and tool around the world with his wife? It may even have been amphibious, I can't remember for sure. Pics?
