does any one have aguide on buildin a 355 for boost? i am thinkinbout useing the stock crack if it specs out. I am gonna get the block drilled for 4 bolt mains. I just dont know what pistons to run/rod. And what cam to put in. I wanta cam that makes good power but i can hear. I love the sound of a car with a huge cam. i will be runnin stock heads for a few months.
There's really not much point in doing a 4 bolt conversion without a steel crank and steel rods. It would break a cast crank or stock rod bolt before the 2 bolt mains anyway.
It just so happens that I have a 1053 steel 1 piece rear seal crank that I'm not using. It's this one:

It is offset ground to 3.50" stroke versus the stock 3.48". I also have a set of Wiseco 4.040" pistons with 25 cc dishes that I'm not using. These combine to make 360 cid. Assuming your heads are 58 cc, the compression ratio would be boost-friendly 9.04/1 assuming zero deck height.
Any forged rod is good. You should replace the bolts with new ARP 2000's because the 8740's have been know to be weak. Sometimes they break while torquing them. Super Engine Builders (gofaststuff.com) has them for $390 and can upgrade to the ARP 2000 bolts for $90 and Frank is absolutely great to deal with.
Let me know if you're interested in the crank or pistons.
