Superchager Question on ATI Prochargers
Superchager Question on ATI Prochargers
I have a 94 camaro z28 m6. Everything is stock internal except lt4 hot cam and 1:6 rockers. I have all the bolt ons and a 4:10 gear. Next summer I want to have the engine built to handle a 12-15 psi w/ P-1SC Procharger. What must I need done internal to have this boost. Also I want the car to be a everyday streetable car. All these cars that are coming out are making my car look like a 4 clyinder. Like the 04 cobras. with bolt ons you can easily make 500rwhp. I really want this set-up to have a really really mean street car. How much horepower would I be looking at with a nice blower cam to match this set-up. Anybody have any recommendations. I only have 7k to spend on this whole entire project?
Re: Superchager Question on ATI Prochargers
When working on a tight budget, it's hard to make specific recommendations without knowing how much you can do yourself. For example, if you farm the job out a big part of the cost of rebuilding is simply the motor R&R. Relatively simple, but time consuming. You can save $700-1,000 just on that if you DIY, depending on local labor rates.
To me, the approach I would take to a budget SC buildup is to use the stock crank and rods, just pop in set of blower friendly pistons and spend the rest of the budget on the blower, heads and cam, etc. Again, it's hard to be specific about budget without knowing your plans.

I don't think the P-1SC will get you there... I agree on budget way with Rich, but I wouldn't do it. Forged internals and a blower cam are worth the $$
Re: Superchager Question on ATI Prochargers
Go for a D1sc insted, I have a P1sc and its pullied to 92% of its max limit, 383 cc305 and (mild)ported heads. It makes 570rwhp..... gona step up to 97% and rebuilt the exhaust and intake and try to get it over 600rwhp...
But if i should build a complite new engine today i should have bought the D1sc..
