Suggest a Keyed Hub

Ive got a 383 LT1, Eagle 4340 crank. The motor has an ATI D1 on it. I deff need to put a keyed hub on, but dont want to have to pull the motor back apart to do anything special to the crank.

What keyed hubs will work on this crank with the best results. BTW, Im trying not to spend 500 bucks on the ATI one.

I just used the stock hub. Took it and the crank to a machine shop and had them cut it into the hub and crank. I think it only costed like $30. I don't know if your eagle crank is any different. Wouldn't think so though.

The snout on the eagle crank should aready have a keyway cut into it, you just need to take the hub to a machine shop to have the key way cut into it, or you can just buy a keyed hub from www.thunderracing.com .

ASP makes the strongest stock style hub.
$90, I believe.
Machined stock hubs are weakened when they're slotted.

I wouldn't waste your money on an ASP hub or pulley the stock one is strong enough. Provided you have it keyed. Spend the money you saved on a good dyno tune when you get it all together.

Re: Suggest a Keyed Hub

I've had very good dealings with Thunder Racing, EXCEPT when it comes to the double keyed hub I bought from them. Machine work was very sloppy - I was very dissapointed to see something that bad, come from a company that I'd had such good experiences with in the past. I realize they farm this work out - but it still reflects poorly on Thunder. My engine builder said he could clean it up and use it (which we are doing), but had I known what I was getting before I ordered, I would have definitely went with the billet single keyed piece from ASP. Price is about the same as the single keyed stock piece from Thunder, and you don't have to ship ASP your stock core.

Exactly. I'm not cutting any corners on my project so getting a "sloppy" hub is not acceptable. I am getting only the best parts so I dont mind spending a little more on an ASP one.

...so once again, where can I find an ASP hub?

You can order from ASP directly

http://www.aspracing.com/frame.htm

I don't think the hub is listed on their site though - you'll need to call them to order 1-877-928-8678 - make sure you specify year model.
