stumbling in the upper r's

i'm getting a pretty strong "stumbling" (almost feels like a miss) around 4700 and up.

I 'm currently running the vortech supplied crane ignition w/boost timing retard and stock coil. the plugs are ngk irridiums (not real sure on the gap though). The blower puts out around 7-7.5#s on the gauge and the lower-end is bone stock.

i don't know if this is knock retard, but i wouldn't think knock retard would stumble. maybe i'm wrong.

anyone have any input?

Could be the opti... you need a sig line to let folks know what you're talking about. LT1? LS1?

I would try some different plugs first. Maybe some NGK TR6 or Autolite 103's. Maybe the iridium plugs are causing it, and it would be alot cheaper than doing the opti right away. Did you just put the blower on, or is this something that has creeped up on ya.

I had that problem and installed an MSD 6AL and it cleaned it up.

The problem came back and I took apart the Opti and cleaned the electrodes in the cap. They had a hard build-up that flaked off. After that, the problem went away.

thanks mike. i've heard the crane is junk. as far as the opti goes, it's a new gm unit, but i guess you can always get a faulty part.

smoknz- the blower has been on for a couple of months now without any issues so it's a recent problem.
