sts turbo system

k im really leaning torward geting the sts system but i hav som questions.i wanna bore my lt1 of and mak it a 383 with the stroker kit of coarse and then boost it with the kit.but ive heard its not good 2 bore out ur block then boost it b/c of the heat.but this sts system is supost 2 eliminate the heat right.not sur wat 2 do.will i mak more power staying stock bore or stroking it out.and r there ne other alternatives.

Re: sts turbo system

i believe there are many many many 383 engines out there that take boost every day with standard setup turbo systems.. also lots of 427's as well and some with twin turbo setups... I guess the main point is to be within a safe tolerance for the wall tickness and the proper compresion ratio. but you should be able to do a 383 with boost.. just depends on the compression ratio as to how much boost

Re: sts turbo system

This post hurts my head but maybe I will try to help you, lets start by quoting one of the 3 time you said the same exact thing...

OK lets get to them then...

Not exactly true, but more of wall thickness differences in castings, but if you machine shop knows what they are doing you shouldn't need to wory about this. there are a lot of guys running .030 over and boost without issues. I will go over more below...

No, it might eliminate heat in the engine bay by not having the turbo there, but the higher preasures in the system due to boost and higher intake temp from a non inter cooled system like the sts will create higher temps in the motor...

OK, well I can't tell you what to do but let's see if I can steer you in the right direction... With the STS system, the stock motor (what it is made for) might last a while and make decent power, but if you are looking to upgrade the motor you would want to upgrade the entire system. Meaning if you build up the motor and want to boost it, build it for boost, and at that point all other problems could be addressed as stated above. But once you do that then you would need to upgrade the turbo, if not most of the STS system, to actually use it to the potential of the new motor. In other word look at your entire set of goals and then choose a path to get there. It has been proven many times before that mismatched setups don't run at their full potential, and end up costing you more $ in the long run...

Re: sts turbo system

so basicly if i juice the motor up the sts will do nothing for me, or i just need 2 get a better/bigger turbo.my car now has 447 hp and almost 500 tq.but i want 2 stroke it out and boost it and aim 4 high 600 or maybe 700.
