definitely a possibility... plus there are less losses for 90's 180's and such (assuming there are less 90's and 180's in this system compared to the "conventional" system). I would still think this system has much more intake piping.

Is there no option for an intercooler?

Any concerns with this thing heating up the gas tank?

I doubt it'll heat the gas tank, not any more than a muffler because of the free flowing exhaust and distance from the engine. The old Incon Twin kits for the LS1 use a scavenge pump for the oil, and seems to work w/ out problems.

Intake distance is a non-issue, the only concern would be the distance in exhaust. I think he said it spools right around 3 grand though.

pretty bad/*** if it really gained 14mph on a stock lt1!!! I bet freeing the exhaust up on that setup would help a ton.. i.e long tubes

Talking

Hey while you are at it, why not stick a supercharger on the motor, and then route that turbo outlet into the supercharger inlet.

I dunno but i dont think you'd need an intercooler becuase it flows down the length of the car (which is cool air) in stead of being routed around the engine (hot air)??

True, maybe you could add heatsinks to the piping and it would a self intercooler... that is an odd setup though... but it does help the front/rear weight balance for us road racers.

I would definently fab up a different style intake, for me, maybe use a naca duct or something on the driver side fender, and run it through a cone style filter.

The heat (for the most part) isn't generated by the engine bay, its compressing air.

I don't think thats entirely accurate. With all that piping it is going to take longer to increase the pressure. Think of it this way, lets say you have a bicycle tire and a large tractor tire. Using the same compressor, its goign to take much longer to get the larger tire to a certain PSI than the smaller tire. Now I know that is an extreem case, but its the same principles.

And yes, its not the engine bay that causes the dramatic rise in intake air temps, its the compression of the air. PV=mRT!!

you have to remember that we have almost 3x as many cubic inches as a supra does....

i dont believe spool @ 3000rpm is that bad at all considering where the turbo is at. It is probably a small turbo. if you had the same turbo closer to the engine you'd probably have spool just over 2000rpm

Ok......I dont think anybody said "its the best kit you can get"..it does not look to be an all out race kit..... but it works...and of course the closer the turbo to the exhaust ports the less time it takes for the exhaust gas to get to the turbo.Thats a fact. But look at it this way.....its a 5.7L...there is alot of air moving out of that engine at 3000rpm's...he said it starts to make boost at 2,500 rpms and that its at full boost at 3,000...... and thats not bad when stock an Lt1 makes over 300ft lbs of torque below 3000 rpms

...you know who should be worried about lag....... Me!...I dont make full boost untill redline..... a centrifugal supercharger is the definition of LAG...

TurboSupra
Again I don't mean to troll, but that turbo kit will be the new joke of the import scene.
For one thing, if the turbo setup is having that good of results from the get go (14mph gain in the 1/4) imagine what it will do with some tweaking/headers/offroad pipes/intercooler, etc....

I think the new "joke around the import scene" should be EVERY import WITHOUT boost............

It would be one thing if the kit was still in the design phase and we could "improve" it all day long.... BUT the prototypes it sounds like are having GREAT results!!!!

One thing you have to take into account is how many more cubic inches we have! Even if the setup is not in the ideal location, if it works, it works....... Id put it on my car if It gives me the results I wanted, and thered be quite a few supras seeing all taillights.
