STS turbo

I want to get one of these systems for an lt1, but I am not sure what all is necessary. I do not race but I like to get on it occationally. I think this thing is what I need in order to get the power I am looking for, but there is so many extra upgrades for this system. If I just bought the system with the bov, would I need all of this other stuff like the extra methonol injector and other things. I thought the system cam with a ecu, does it?

Basically could I just get the stock system for approx 3900, the bov (lowest boost bov) for whatever it costs, and the manual boost controller (0-5psi) and be happy at around 400 hp?

Or do I need to do a bunch of other crap to get the car ready to handle as well as get suckered into all these other upgrades for effeciency purposes?

Give us a link to whoever you are looking to buy from and the kit you are looking at.

I don't have much experience with the kit, but what is already done to the car? Bone stock and 5psi probably won't do 400hp.

They can perform very well if you set it up right. Front mount is btter, but the sts will still provide a nice jump in power.

From almost all the setups I've seen, they are just dyno/show queens. By the time you get all the upgrades for a decent sts kit, you could have a decent front mount kit.

To some people thats all that matters Definitely depends on what the goals for the car.

If you have the money and wrench turning capabilities, front mount all the way.

ummm critter thanks for help posting up my link but its already sold... as fro the sts kit its not garbage i liked the kit and i did get some good numbers on a pretty much stock engine w/ headers and a mail order tune and im sure if i had bigger injectors it would have made 400HP to the ground. if you are gonna buy it look at the cost of everything you want Vs. a frount mount. after talking to RealQuick about it he made a good point that its a good beginners kit. i bout mine b/c i was chomping at the bit to go forced induction but didnt know much about turbos at the time. if i would go back i would have done a frount mount to start off with and save some cash. there is a guy on here that makes the hot parts pretty cheap... maby he will throw his 2 cents in. over all you can spend around 1k less on a frount mount over the STS if you get all the right parts. PM me and il send you some pics of the problems with the STS and how to fix it before you order the kit also il help you understand the upgrades.

i just read a review for this kit and the hp #s were 393hp @7psi with 42# injectors and a good tune. that was on an otherwise stock engine though.

i find that hard to believe b/c i made around the same power with stock injectors on 5lbs. maxed out aroun 5400 b/c it went lean.

If it went lean at 5400, then your tune wasn't good enough. A good tune (i.e. one that doesn't lean out at any rpm) would keep making power all the way to redline.

No company sells them cheap. The "companies" that sell LT1 hotparts are:

TTi
PTS
OFI

None of which are cheap.

your right it was just a mail order that wasnt really all that good. but also stock injectors im sure will cause it to lean in a higher rpm on boost.... im sure it wouldnt off boost though.
