stock ls1 block with a blower???

hey guys, granny is selling the ws6 and my talon but i toldher the only way for me to let go of my tsi awd is if i can get a 98-98 t/a with an auto and 5,000 to spend on speed mods and she agreed!!! i was wondering how long i could keep my stock block if i got the vrtech supercharger kit and some bigger injectors to try to keep from knocking (detenation killed my first engine in the talon- its sad when 4 580cc injectors aren't enough ) . So i was wondering how long it would last because i won't be able to get a built up engine for about another 2 years or so. i'm no gonna rn the **** outta it but i want that added power just to keep the 03 cobra's in there place at the track if i ever get to go.
BTW- it will be an auto so it willbe boosting the whole time if thats a problem (i know dsm's go in and outta spool if you lift at all so i let it ping off the rev limiter since well, they won't bust till after 500hp on a stock longblock).

this is my final decision breaker on whether to sell the talon and put a blower on an ls1 or keep messing with thetalon

thank you,
mike

Kind of a tough question...how long will my motor last with a blower. Well at least you chose an LS1 and not an LT1. LT1s are plagued with weak pistons and can't take much so I am told. I have heard of LS1s over 500hp on a stock motor with pump gas...I think. That takes programming obviously, and some dyno time. I would think that if you just straight up bolted on a Vortech setup with the aftercooler that it'd be fine as long as you are sensible with it, but that is just the words of a guy who listens to others but hasn't done it...yet.

I believe the LS1s still use hypereutechtic pistons... that makes any piston fragile. I'd still use caution.

Keep a good tune in it, and you're good up to about 500rwhp reliably. The LS1 far exceeds the LT1 in power handling stock.

Never heard that, I always heard the LT1 could take more abuse, but anyway, either one can take it...

The people who have had an LT1 run w/ a blower for extended periods and not blow up are very few.

The LT1's that blow up soon w/ a blower are the majority.

goto ls1.com - plenty of people's daily drivers doing 8-9psi and 500rwhp no problem.

I dont' know why anyone would say the LT1 is tougher. Sure, iron blocks are tough, it its not a factor when working w/ the stock internals.
