stock internals vs. boost

Stock bottom end(not incl. rear end) can safely handle how much boost? 7-8 is average for a stock bottom end, so I've heard. What if I wanted to add methanol and up boost to 10-12 psi and spin the engine up to 6500. With a properly set up valvetrain, turbo/blower and rear end, would it be safe?

It looks like you've got 8psi on stick bottom end. How's it holding up? How aggressively do you drive? Is it a dd? Any track time?

you might get that 7-9psi WITH the meth and not blow it the first time you mat it

I "did" run 8 psi on the stock bottom end. What usually happens in these motors is the ring lands breaking on the pistons. Had a broken ring land in 2 of my pistons. Now I'm building a forged 355 that will see 15+ psi of boost with ported lt1's that flow 290 intake 200 exhaust with a blower cam as well. I would mash the throttle everytime I got in the car, because the feeling of boost is incredible , not to mention fun as hell. It was also my DD. If you boost the stock engine, chances are your going to break something. Most of us FI guys have allready gone down the same path: Boosting stock motor, breaking something, then building a forged lower. Seems like not many people build the engine first then add a power adder of some kind.

i blew my rings/bearings out at 25k miles with 4-5psi. lt1s are just not designed to be boosted from the factory. they run too tight of bearing clearances
