Well it looks like $16.14 for the 6 jugs of it and $18 for shipping (to my house). I can get a 5 gal pail of methanol for less than just the shipping around here, although I haven't priced it in a year or so. It would probably work though.

 

It's going to be way cheaper to buy straight methanol and cut it with water. Last time i bought methanol out here, it was around $3.50 a gallon. Make a 50/50 water meth mix and you have 2 gallons for $1.75 a gallon.

well it wouldnt be a bad price for me because i can get it at the local autostore.

are you getting your methanol from a chain store or a local place?

the local road race track sells it if you will buy 30 gal or more. they say its not worth it to open a barrel just for a few gallons...

im going to keep looking around to try and find some. any ideas?

I got mine at a local engine shop that sells it by the gallon out of a 50gal drum. There are also places that sell 5 gallon drums too.

I'm getting mine at a candlemakers shop for 2.89 a gallon. It is the Sunoco 99.5 % pure methanol. I just bring a five gallon gas can to them every 6 months or so. I'm running it 100% with no water.

 

well, i guess ill see if there are any candlemakers in town.... why not run just a little water to help cool the temps more???



now that you mentioned you are running pure meth, it reminds me of a question ive had. in the snow ad in my summit catalog, it said that one of their kits is also used for NA cars.

i was wondering if putting a meth kit on my caddy running 80-100% would help any. i thought that it would help raise the octane level at the very least.

 

I'm running 100% based on recommendations of Alkycontrol owner Julio who has done alot of testing on the dyno and I consider him to be an expert on the subject. For more info check the sticky at the top of the Forced induction section.

 

Im going to run 100% meth so far i have found it for $35 for 5 gal. Ill be ordering a alkycontrol in a week or to so need help finding somewhere cheaper to get meth.

 

im going to start out at a 60/40 meth/water. i found a 5gal can for 40 bucks. kinda expensive, but its close to my house....
