Spark Plug Issue
Spark Plug Issue
Hey guys, I just put in some TR-6's plugs with my p600b supercharger and I got it tuned by PCM4LESS. I just pulled out my plugs and they were WHITE, i've had some people say its lean, some say its coolant?/ I only have roughly 65 miles on the car since the supercharger install. Also my front two O2's have wire extensions on them since I have the headers on it. Could it possibly be that they arent sending a good signal to the PCM for the correct a/f ratio? Or do I need to regap the plugs. I dont know what the Gap is at right now, i just got them and put them in?

You really want to get some data logs to see what is happening before something bad happens. If it was a coolant leak, you would probably see white smoke out the exhaust, as well. If all the plugs look the same, it is not likely a head gasket/coolant issue. All the more reason to see what the A/F ratio is and what the PCM is reading.
If it is a mail order tune or even a dyno tune then it is quite possibly running lean. Tunes are hit and miss and sometimes change with the weather conditions. However some gasoline additives can also leave a white dust behind on the spark plugs. Dynojet Wideband commander sells a kit that has a guage included that mounts inside the car for about $350 on ebay. So you can watch your Air fuel ratio all the time while you are driving. Your car should run at 14.7 almost all the time when not full throttle. When you go full throttle it should reduce the air fuel ratio to 11.8 for boost. The only way to check if the computer is commanding the correct a/f ratio is with a wideband. Don't just throw a bunch of parts at it because it will cost more than the wideband will in the end. I also recommend a vaccuum/boost guage. This is a good indicator of engine condition too. I don't have a fuel pressure guage in my car all the time. However you can get a fuel pressure tester for about 15 bucks at any auto parts store that hooks to the schrader valve and you can tape it to your windshield while you drive around just for testing purposes. If you can tell your tuner what the AF ratio is they can make adjustments to your tune to get it back on track.

Are they white after ordinary driving or have you shut the engine down direct after a WOT run? reading the plugs after a minut of ordinary driving after a WOT run wont tell you the truth abouth the WOT tuning.

If its after a WOT run, be carefull and get it checked widh a wideband O2 as statet above

you have to kill the engine right after a WOT run... no idle
cheapest wideband there is: http://www.14point7.com/JAW/JAW.htm
