So how bad is my cam hurting me?

224/236 close to .600 lift and a 110 LSA.

How bad do you guys think this cam is hurting me. Would I be better off with my stock cam in there? How bad is the overlap on this cam with a 110 lsa compared to a 224/236 on a 114 lsa?

t-67/t4, log manifolds, 5psi

I would say its hurting you quite a bit. The cam that I am trying is the new xfi 230/ 236 113 lsa. Most say its to big, but my engine builder wants to try it..

Its my understanding that overlap on a cam for a turbo is bad b/c the exhaust back pressure from the turbo is actually more than the boost pressure.

So a cam with overlap may work a little better(not ideal) in a supercharger application than a turbo???

you need to check the back pressure on your setup, the less you have the more agrssive you can get with the cam

if you have over 2x the boost PSI then you need to watch the over lap

i'm currently specing a cam for my 6

As long as your turbo can push enough air, the cam is not hurting you. Being that you have a fairly small turbo its probably working its but off to make 5psi with that cam.

You have @ 10 degrees of positive overlap, which most people will say is too much even for a blower. Usually want to stay negative overlap on a turbo car.

Its been shown that a bigger cam always make more hp on a turbo car - until you run out of turbo. Peaks higher too.

Wow, back from the dead. I have since rebuilt the motor and had a custom cam ground.

I beleive it was a 224/230 on a 112 lsa.

car made 586 hp/607 tq running out of turbo about 5500 rpm

sorry post while i was searching......

so you went form 224/236 110 LSA to 224/230 112 LSA

i know you rebiult the motor, is the newer cam working better?

It seems to be working pretty good. The boost comes in about the same rpm as it did before. Hard to really tell the difference it made with the motor rebuild and going to much lower compression. Im happy with it though. Id really like to step up to a t-76 and see what kind of power I can put down. Im thinking I might get another 100 hp out of it.
