Smoke when boosting?????????

Engine just rebuilt runs great until I boost it, then it smokes like a train! Is it blowing oil past the rings on the non-firing pistons. I have a breather on the valve cover. Any thoughts please??

Smoke when boosting?????????
dunno if anyone else see this or its just me but to me that sounds like a very "ricer" way of saying that its smoking when you are seeing boost.

did you brake in your motor before you threw your s/c on there??
you have to break in a new engine before it sees boost because the rings cant set properly

What color was the smoke?, I also agree with above. You have to let your rings at least seat before you start romping on her. Drive the car for 500-1000 miles and log it. Make sure there isnt anything in the oil when you change it. When you know the car is running pretty good then start getting on it and see what she does.

Re: Smoke when boosting?????????

Black Smoke = Fuel, running rich
White Smoke = Oil, probly due to excessive blow by if the rings aren't seated yet. Boost will exagerate the blowby if the rings aren't seated yet. Check the inlet on the blower to see if there is an excessive amount of oil there from the valve cover breather, if not than the oil is getting past the rings into the combustion chamber.

Black smoke = running rich
white smoke = coolant, possible blown head gasket
blue/grey smoke = oil

Thanks for all the info. Yes it's blue smoke. You're probably right, the rings aren't seated good! We'll work on the break in some more, however it does have close to 7-8 hundred on it now I''m sure.
