Has anyone on this board run one of these?

My car's actually a Corvette, and there's just no good place for an intercooler. I =have= an intercooler, but there's just no airflow to it (the ATI setup) so am looking for alternatives.

It seems like a good idea on paper, just really curious to see if anyone's tried it!

I don't think that would work, especially on a forced induction car. Air is moving so fast that thing will not cool the air passing. Why not alcohol injection?

 

I think it'd work, but think about the amount of air you're exposing to the cooler element. Only the area that flows around that little bulb. Most of the air will go right past it. You'd be a lot better off either getting a CO2 spray system (cheaper then the nitrous kit of the same effect) to spray the intercooler, or as was said, using alcy injection. It's a question of surface area - and spraying alcy in a fine mist into the intake charge after the compressor, or by freezing the intercooler... You'll expose more of your intake charge to a cooler temperature. Also never forget - water transfers heat 14x better then air.

 

i know this is a really old thread but i saw the CryO2 kit and thought id do a search for it.

anyone think of using this water and co2 spray kit on a vortech aftercooler?

Why dont you just run something like the snow perfomance methanol injection kit. Chemical intercooling is awesome and would blow that cryo BS out of the water. Plus its WAY easier to fill up your meth tank than it is to find CO2!!! The co2 would be great and has been used for ages to cool heat soaked intercoolers while doing back to back runs but I doubt its efficiency if used as you puposed. Summit sells the Snow Perfomance kit. Check it out.

YEah, Im a RETARD!!!! I bet all of you got a good laugh out of that skiing website. I swear I have visited the site more than a few times. Its always the small details, in this case .net! Jeremy, to answer your question, no I currently do not have this kit installed on my car. I do have many friends that are running it though and they love it. My dad use to run a variation of this setup on one of the first turbine powered unlimited hydroplanes back in the early 70's. He said that the turbines would sream with that extra HP. Up until a few years ago alot of people would just trash talk it and say it wasnt safe, blah blah. Now it seems like everyone and their brother are using them even in addition to an efficient intercooler. Summit sells this product and it can be found online as well as in their catalog. I am gong to buy the stage 2 for my turbo setup.

 

are you gonna upgrade to that 7quart tank or just use the standard one?

itll be a tight fit even for the small one under the hood. i was wondering if we can mount it in the trunk or something......
but if you had to run the line all the way from the back to the front there would be a lot of friction loss in the hose line.....making you have less pressure at the nozzle. id think that may cause problems....

Do not use that CryO2 co2 kit. For some reason, I tried it. Thank goodness we installed it while straped to a dyno otherwise I would have thought something was wrong with my car.

It made my car buck hard at the top end and power fell by ~40rwhp. The graph was like a jagged mountain top. We took it off and things went back to normal.
Definitely a restriction.
I now have snow water/meth kit- much better

ss#1230- I am most likely going to opt for the larger tank once my snow kit is installed. Right now I am looking for a place for it considering my upgrade to the water to air intercooler has left me with very few options in an already tight engine compartment. If I end up having to go with the smaller tank, I will just keep a gallon pre mix in the trunk, seeing that I will be lifting the hood at the nearest gas station to add ice for the intercooler. I would not mount the tank intself in the trunk. Is this car going to be your daily driver? If that is the case then I can see why you are concerned about a larger tank. Get in touch with jose at www.forcedinductions.com, he has the snow kit on his car and also sells the systems. He would probably be more than willing to send you a pic or two of his fourth gen.

 

I've got the snow kit on the company diesel, and i recently ordered another kit for my Camaro. I've been really happy with it, and definitely recommend it.

 

My set up is different from most of you guys. It is a blow thru application in a third gen.
I only had like 2' total piping to worry about, so it is injected right after supercharger (ran the line right next to upper radiator hose).
