Smog Help
Re: Smog Help
Flip94ta, I can't get over you passing without a functional cat! How did your car run with 6 bottles of dry gas? I put some stuff in the gas that my tuner gave me and by the time I had enough in there to make a difference, the car would barely run. Almost didn't get it started at the emissions place. Still didn't pass with dual cats and the green juice and emissions tune on the car. Brought the HC from 760ppm down to 276ppm--not quite enough (220 is the limit). We are going to hook up an air pump to pump air into the exhaust after the cats and see if that works.
Re: Smog Help
The cat is hollow, and the car is loud as crap with edlbrock tes and the borla.
Dry gas is gasoline water remover or gasoline antifreeze. You can find it everywhere like gas stations, parts stores target etc. It usually comes in 10-12 oz bottles. I had to go to two different gas stations to find six bottles. Its basically a form of alcohol. So I had about 12 gallons of 93 and 1/2 a gallon of alcohol. I guess in theory the alcohol burns a little hotter in the chamber. When jeff put the tune in he logged it for a sec and there was 10* advance at idle, I'm am not sure what it is set at but that was where the computer wanted it. The idle was at 1000 which is borderline too high, sometimes they will send you home. Last year I passed with about the same setup and technique, I had 159hc and 0 CO. I think the idle was set at 950 and temps were a little hotter. Jeff tried a tune on me last year that caused me to fail the first time around. He had the fans set at 230. It was way too hot, when I was being sniffed the temp guage was reading 245ish. I melted the plastic tube for my boost guage and the plastic part of the cowl sagged about a 1/4 of an inch over bother headers. I think I scored around 259 HC that time.
I was curious what my car ran with its "normal tune" so two years ago I went though with my fans at 175ish, idle at 900 and stock timing and the car blew 900HC. My best ever run was 59 HC and 0CO. Other things about my combo are 9.2CR, CC305 straight up and 1.6RR plus what I have mentioned above. I have the maf on th suck side and the bypass routed like stock(for now). It has about 14 inches of vacuum at idle.

Flip94ta:
I re-read this entire post and let me see if I have this straight. You put the dry gas in and pass on your regular tune or does your tuner modify your tune before you get tested?
