Should I buy QTP long tube headers if i will be getting a turbo system?
Should I buy QTP long tube headers if i will be getting a turbo system?
I know i posted this on the other external parts part of the forum, but i am not sure where this question belongs. Because its more based on the turbo system. that would make the choice.
QTP is having a sale on their headers and i would like to take advantage of it if i know that i am going to need them. The thing is, i am deciding on forced induction, pretty much either a sts rear mount or a twin turbo front mount. I know with the rear mount, i would neeed the headers, but say if i go with GMR speed or ohio forced inductions front mount turbo, will i still need headers?
also, should i get them with or without cats? I mean i hear that front mounts would melt the cats because of the heat. I don't know about the rear mount though.

>except for the rear mount turbo system the turbo connects to either a header or log type exhaust manifold designed for them.
but if you want long tube hearers and you go the rear mount direction I really recommend the Kooks Custom headers http://www.kookscustomheaders.com/
they are probably the most expensive, but worth the cost in more ways then one.
I had Edlebrock shorty headers (nice quality but small primaries 1 5/8") coated by Air Born Coatings.
Then I got the JetHot long tubes and their coating sucks... so I went Kooks
1 3/4" steped to 1 7/8" and they are so nice.

Alot of the LS1 STS guys are reporting power gains and quicker spool when they switch back to stock manifolds. The headers shed too much exhaust heat before it gets to the turbo.

To add onto that, they also wrap their exhaust including headers for those people that didnt want to put the stock mani's back on. Either way you will need to ditch the headers for either kit.
