Brady,
Thanks

Hey, if you ever want to franchise out to New England area let me know as I think I'd fit in nicely with the "Team *****" concept

Under oath, I cannot tell a lie, yes these words were echoed by me

I didn't mean I'd make it a 12 second sled, it's just that 10 flat would be fine with me, but let me get back to you after I run 9's and I'll put it to the commitee at that time

IDOXLR8,
I should have the converter back in two weeks, I've got a track rental scheduled for July 14 so it's ***** to the wall that day

It'll be like a mini star trek episode

Captain Kirk - "I need more power"

Scotty replies "Captain, I'm giving her all she's got"

At the rental, hopefully "warp speed" will be achieved

BTW Do you know when OSCAR is suppose to be released? Last time I checked a month ago they were still working on it.

The owner / designer / creator is taking some time off to finish up some personal projects (72 Nova and 37 *******) and do some drag racing with those toys. It's been years since he raced and he needs to have some fun. It will probably be September before he is ready to release them.

There are no problems with them (and I've got 654 horsepower to back that statement up), I'm still running the prototype.

He's going to hook me up with a production one when they are finished.

dammit see if you can persuade him to make another prototype. If you do not mind me asking how much did the entire OSCAR setup cost you? You can pm if you want.

Just got back from shipping the converter and OUCH

I was horrified when I asked how much to get it there by Monday........$145
Tuesday????.......$105
Wednesday ground - $31

I want it back asap but had to cheap out and go for the ground, hell I got to have it shipped back and it's a minumum of $225 for them to restall the converter.

I just hope they take care of me and turn it around quickly.

Let us pray to the Horsepower gods

It was dyno'd on Thunder Racing's Dynojet.

I've found that a good torque converter will cause the torque to peak immediately when you hit the gas. If it doesn't, you need more stall.

I don't have an electronic copy of my dyno sheet, but the torque peaks as soon as you open the throttle (575 ft lb at 3700) and gradually slopes downward. The hp peaks at 6500 with 547. It makes over 500 hp from 4900 and up and only falls to 520 by 7200.

Highlander, you wanted to give it more timing at part throttle, which I see no point in doing. I'm not stepping up to a YS trim because the T trim has the potential to reach my goals. LJ has run 9.90's with an S trim, so I don't think I need a YS. Furthermore, I need to make my current combo work right before making any big changes and throwing more money at it.

My converter is a Vigilante 2800 "0" pump. It acts more like a 4000 due to the torque output of the motor. I don't have a lock-up either (TH-350). What converter is 1st and goal using?

I will follow or try advice as long as it makes sense, otherwise, I'm not going to waste my time. Raising the timing at part throttle doesn't make sense when we're talking about WOT power.

I set my A/F ratio to 11.5 - 12.0 / 1 and tried several different timing values on the dyno and kept the best one. I'm not sure how you can think this is so far off.

Hey, great procharger numbers Marc. Are you running a 12-rib serpentine or cogs?

I'm curious about your tune also.
What is your AFR at WOT?
How about the timing?
All that power on 92 octane?
We can't even get 92 octane around here, only 91 in CA.

I just got my vortech running last week. On the first shakedown run (on the street) it was pretty insane. This car never pulled that hard and was never that fast. Found out a couple of days later that I had advanced the timing with the smartspark 2 degrees everywhere in the curve (base angle) a few months back when I pulled off the procharger and running N/A. So, being conservative, I tried taking out the 2 degrees and retarding it a degree or two and that turned the power and torque down a lot.
It's pretty amazing what a degree or two can do.
They say blown engines make the most power just before detonating, I defineately believe this now.

I surmise on cool days I could run more aggressive timing, but forget it most of the time around here in the summer, it's too hot down here in Socal.

Its ok mike.. it doesnt make sense to you... it does to me and it has worked out quite well for me if done right.

I'm running the 12 rib serpentine belt w/ SD Concepts spring loaded tensioner.

The A/F table has a tartet of 11.3:1
This graph www.tta89.net/marc/dynopulls.jpg represents a difference of 2 degrees of timing between each pull. I was using race gas during the tuning.
Street mode will be in the 580 range.
My first pull (didn't post this graph) made 577 on the same tune as the 571 dyno pull but the graph looked funky so I ditched it in favor of the cleaner 571 pull.

I also did a pull using 11.5 a/f target and it made 588 torque but only 650 RWHP
http://www.tta89.net/marc/30deg_11-3...comparison.jpg

I can get a best of 93 octane for street duty, Sunoco stopped carrying 94 octane this spring...Bastards!!

I'm looking forward to doing some track rentals in September / October when I can get a nice sunny day in the 50's

Good luck in getting your ride back together
