Seriously considering supercharger

See my web page for a chronological sequence of events ... I've been running 9 - 11 psi of boost (depends on the temperature) for the last 2 years ... no problems so far ... you just need to keep an eye on the details and use some Xylene or Toluene in your fuel to keep the dreaded detonation at bay.
Hope this helps

If you go this route, you must specify you want "first run" or "virgin" product. It will be clear in color and pure. If you do not specify this, then you may get a dyed product that is as just as good for a solvent application, but will not perform as well as a knock reducer in your engine.
You may have some trouble obtaining either one of these chemicals ... 911 has many of the bigger companies looking for the bad guys under their beds ... I had to furnish a business address in order to get a 55 gallon drum of Xylene.
Toluene is a major constituent of gasoline, around 45% according to some sources. It contains more calories per gallon than does gasoline itself, and a octane rating of around 114. Used to be a race car fuel.
Xylene with an octane rating of around 117 is more of a solvent, it will damage many petroleum based plastics where Toluene is not as harsh.
I like the Xylene better, seems to control the knock better and so far I've had no issues with deteriorated rubber parts in my fuel system and this is after 2 years of continual use.
Both of these products are cancer causing agents ... not to be taken internally or ... used as testicular ointments ...
I use 20 - 30% of either Toluene or Xylene along with 91 octane fuel.
To prove to myself that these things worked, one day I ran the tank near empty, filled up with Premium gas and went for a blast, you could hear the engine misbehaving, the scanmaster went nuts, all sorts of "bad stuff" was happening, so I got out of the throttle real quick. I drove a day to burn off a few gallons, then went and topped up with 3 gallons of Xylene, went for a test run, and nothing, smooth as a babies bottom, the scanmaster stayed pegged at 0.0 degrees of retard ...

Hope this helps

Stock CR at 10.5:1, but I was getting some false knock. So I bought a gallon and added it to 5 gallons in the tank. It was a quick way to find out. I'll be using some for the Pony Express race in Nevada later this Summer. It's a 32 Gallon Fuel Cell so I'll need to add about 6 gallons of Toluene and top off with Premium.

That's a deal. I called 20 places and nobody had 55 gallon drums out here. The largest I could get was a gallon. I've called paint warehouses, wholesalers, and chemical distributors... no luck here.
