In one of my high hp engines tried Total Seal and they failed, terriblky. The coating flaked off the face of the ring and engine started drinking oil. Car looked like a mosquito spraying vehicle. The ring pack was tight
(6" rod 383) and close to the top of the piston and took a lot of heat abuse. Tried Childs and Albert gapless and had some sealing/blowby problems. It wasn't as bad as the Total Seal problems but wanted to change them at the first opportunity. Now use SpeedPro PlasmaMoly rings gapped loose to allow for ring expansion and no issues (oil consumption or blowby).

I'm using hastings racing rings gapped larger for the boost and nitrous. They sealed well and haven't had any problems with them.
