hello Rich
I just curious your buddy Bob kennedy in Buffallo, I want to to know how well can he tune blown speed density LT1 car? I want to take my car to him and let him try it. Maybe you and Bob try to do the tuning for my car.

I always wanted to take to Delaware for Shalin to do the tune because he can tune blown speed density Lt1 than anyone that I know of. I have to cancel two appointment with him in the pass because at that time my car was not ready.

My new appointment with Shalin to do the tune was yesterday but I was informed last Wednesday that he has to cancel the tuning session because his grandmother passed away in San Francisco. Now I don't know when I am going to get a new appointment with him since he has not reply my email.

My car is 93LT1 probably 18psi of boost and 200hp of wet nitrous
Twin fuel pump Walbro GSSS340M and twin feed lines to the rails.
Give me a honest opinion as to how well can Bob tune speed density. Thanks

Bruce

The tuning would not be a problem, they are failrly easy to tune. Bob has done quite a few of them. I am usually around. But if you are in a hurry, the issue is timing as this is the busiest time of year. Charges are by the hour. It doesn't usually take very long to tune, but what happens often is there turns out to be some mechanical or electrical problem that needs fixing. So, before you take your car to ANY tuner be sure everything else is in tip-top shape. Certainly, new plugs and wires as well.

If you bring your car up be sure I know when so I can be around, just to meet you if nothing else and also to help with the tune.

How about this coming up Friday? I can request a day off from work and get my car there. My car everything is working in tip top shape, plug, wires and Optic spark are new since the rebuilt. So can you make arrangement with Bob for me for Friday? Thanks

ps. A good tune would have a total timing of 26-28 degree right?

After talking to Bob today and I decided to go else where because he does not seems to be very helpful. When I ask him about charge on the Eprom alone , he told me $125 an hrs which is fine with me but I when i ask him how many hrs take him to burn the prom? His atitudes is "I don't know what ever hrs it takes" I say, I don't want to take my car down there and you tell me it take 10hrs at $125 per hrs. He says than don't come. Well this type atitude certainly won't get my business. They are plentiful tuners around, I will take it to else where. But thanks for the help Rich.

Sorry I won't be seeing you. Bob is honest to a fault and will not say anything misleading to "sell" something. It's one of the things I like about him, though it does sometimes scare people off. In fact, I have seen him charge for maybe 1/2 the time a job actually took (through no fault of his own) when he implied it would take less time than it actually did. That's one reason he is careful not to promise something unless he is sure of the result.

But you need to go where their "style" makes you comfortable! So, best of luck.

A typical dyno tune I expect to pay around $500-550 which perfectly fine with me. And I like the tuner make me feel comfortable and work with me rather than take it or leave it atitude I got from Bob.

here are example I experience with "ARE" When I had head&cam and N2O, they charged me $500 US for custom prom and dyno tune.

Here is a another one, pass experience, Shalin charged me $300 for custom prom including street tune and dyno tune. I paid for dyno time 2-3 hrs max at $75 an hrs

My point is does not matter how you cut it. I still expect to pay around $500-550 which is fair. Rather than having someone can't tell me how long or how much the tuning cost, just like giving a blank check to fill in the #.
