With the stock Turbo Tech kit I welded in a GReddy Type-R BOV. I think the pic is still up on my webpage, the only thing I updated on the webpage was the dyno sheet. Initial tune on the stock motor was a dynotune by Ed Wright. I was to chicken back then to do my own tuning, but quickly found out that it isn't to hard, and its much more cost effective to do it yourself. I broke a ringland on the #1 piston so a rebuild was in order. I used the stock rods and crank, put in forged -22 cc Speed Pro pistons, AFR 190cc LT1 heads, changed the intake on the TT kit to ATI's twin intercoolers, ditched the 60-1 hifi turbo in favor of a PT76 Qtrim turbo, and a custom 3"downpipe and a Turbonetics racegate. I also got the Racetronix twin intank pumps and I run stock FPR and lines. I am in the process of getting a new turbo kit now as I don't care for the wastegate location, crossover pipe, and the log header of the TT kit. I did the tuning for all the new stuff with Tunercat.

Thanks for the input guys, i still have one dilema though, i don't really know if i am willing to drive all the way to Tulsa and get a dyno tune on an engine that i don't expect to last, nor do i plan on keeping for all that long. My question is how much am i looking at to have ed wright do a tune, and how can i get into contact with him.

Screw Ed wright. He will charge you $500 for the dyno tune. Your car will then be tuned for the completely stock engine. When you rebuild you will undoubtedly change the heads and the cam, and probably the boost which will render that $500 tune useless. For right around $200 you can get tunercat and a cable, then all you need to do is rent a dyno for a few hours and tune the WOT yourself. The rest you can do driving around using datamaster. If your stepping up to a turbo, its time to learn tuning. Its better to practice on the stock motor and if it breaks, oh well, it was going to anyway. Just pull the timing way down and add alot of fuel and you should have a good place to start without the possibility of doing any damage. If you need tuning tips ask here or the computer forum, also the LT1 edit mailing list has very knowledgeable people. FWIW when I started to tune my car i had the almost stock LT1 file, I had a little timing pulled out, but the fuel press with the dual pumps was almost 70 psi. On the first run it got a little lean on the top after the MAF maxed but it was only around 13:1. I took car of that with the PE table, and then pretty much smoothed out the A/F ratio thru the rpm band, and added a little timing.
