Rear Mount Turbo?
Anyone have any comments about this rear mount turbo kit... or any other kits that they make for LT1's. Id love to do this, but I want to do my research before i just go spend 5g on this kithttp://www.jlturbo.com/eyecandy.htm
Re: Rear Mount Turbo?
It's not all that new, and it does work.
Think of it as "The Powerdyne of Turbochargers".
That's not a slam against either product, but a caution to understand the nature of the product you're buying. It's great for a fun hot-rod upgrade that does far better on the track than it's detractors were initially willing to give it credit for.
However, do NOT allow yourself to believe that this is a big power system; big power meaning multiple atomoshperes of boost.

what if i got the system and just up-graded the turbo after a while, using the same hardware. im not looking to run 9's but a low 10 would be fine
i asked the guy this question and this is what he told me...

The base kits come the a Garrett TO4E 60-1 and are upgradable either through
us, or if you find your own that would be up to you. The options we sell
are designed to work in the rear mounted location, other off the shelf
turbos might not spool effectivly. Upgrade options Garrett GT67, GT70,
GT76.
Let us know if have any other questions.

Re: Rear Mount Turbo?
it works, but remember youll also have to build your motor if your gonna run 10s on high boost just do a search on sts and you will see many posts for both pros and cons
Re: Rear Mount Turbo?
I am planning on running at least low 10's with mine, this is with the GT76 upgrade on a built 370 LS1. So, I do think this kit is very capable of big numbers, and my car is very very streetable. Just remember, boost is addictive, and expensive...not a good mix!

Re: Rear Mount Turbo?
stock bottom end you should be fine with 5 psi of boost, some have run 7-8 psi, with a good tune and intercooler or methanol injection. what i meant was if your serious about running tens then you need more then just the upgraded turbo.
