Quick Spool

Essentially an actuator controlled butterfly valve that can effectively halve your A/R ratio. So if you had a .96A/R you would be able to spool it like a ~0.48 until your preset and it opens up.

A divided housing is required.

Anyone have anything to add on these?

Varying duty cycle to vary the blade?
Just use an actuator from a wastegate with an internal spring. Have boost pressure fight the spring to overcome it as boost rises. Essentially wastegate controlling half the turbo. Boost pressure will shoot up then dump through the other side of the turbo as flow increases. Also in the event that the blade fails closed, make sure you're wastegate is large enough to dump all the exhaust so you don't overboost.

That's pretty much it. Here is some info on a rear mount setup.

Here is a graph from a supra.
