Questions on my Components for my S-Trim install?
Trying to get things together for the install o my Vortech S trim. I bought it used and it is the 6-7psi kit. Ihave a few questions for you guys. I plan on running 50# injectors and no FMU. I have an Aeromotive AFPR and I am installing the intank pump that came with the kit. I am also not gonna use the MSD + boost retard ignition. I am gonna get the Accel 375+ retard unti to use with my current Accel 300+ ignition system. I My N/A numbers are in the sig for hp reference. Here are my questions:
1. Is it ok not to run the fmu?
2. Do I need an aftermarket inline pump as well as the vortech intank pump?
3. Can I just buy an inline pump and keep the stocker in the tank?
4. Does anyone forsee any issues with the Accel igniion/boost retard?
5. What is the mak rwhp capabilities of the S-trim?
Thanks guys for the help.

No problem deleting the FMU and running bigger injectors as long as your PCU is reprogrammed for both the bigger injectors and running under boost.
The Vortech TRex pump (that comes in the kit) is an in-line pump, not an in-tank pump. With an FMU, the stock fuel pump cannot handle the higher fuel pressures. Running without an FMU the fuel pressures will not be an issue but you may go lean at higher RPMs. My suggestion is to install a Walbro 340 in-tank pump. This feeds my 10# intercooled Vortech S Trim with the stock fuel lines.
I'm not familiar with the Accel ignition but I would think it would be fine. With custom PCU tuning, you may not need the boost retard function at all...timing is removed by the PCU.
My 10#, intercooled S-Trim has chassis dyno'd 527 rwhp and 500 ft-lbs of torque. I'm sure other guys have gotten more out of an S Trim. You don't want to go about 6# of boost without adding an aftercooler...the stock pistons can't take it.

Thanks for the indepth response. I hope to be in the 470rwhp area on the 6spi kit. We'll see. I am pretty sure the kit I have is anintank unit. The kit is used and looks to be a few years old. I'll check tonight. I do plan on getting tunercat to tune the car.
I will sell you the T-Rex that I have on my car? You gotta let me know though if you want it so I can install the fuel pump I've had sitting around in my room for a while. PM me or email me...
Oh and I think the vortech aftercooler is a total ripoff... I made myself an alcohol injection kit that's works perfectamundo. I can make you one too if you so desire =)
