Yes that is how I see it.
Spool is a relative term.
If you need 12psi to get your car realy moving and mine takes off with around 7 or 8 I will have less turbo lag and my car will be faster.

other than the weight, i still dont get the Rx7. I guess I should say i dont see the advantage of a rotary yet... maybe i'm just dumb.

BSFC- sucks
Compression ratio: usually low
Loud as the neighbors girlfriend
reliability of my old girl friend
unstable as my current girl friend
Finickyier than both
More expensive than both put together
And parts are harder to find than my ideal girl

but unlike girls, there is an alternative to the rotary. one that wasn't designed by a 12 year old

Re: Question about Turbo Debate I had

BSFC is usaly as high a .75 on a turbo rotary.
The guy in my shop that got his 1993 rx7 with a bad engine got his new engine and paid some where in the 3000-3500 range it was all most a stock engine but with street ports.
There is a guy on my base that has a red 93 rx7 with a T51r turbo and has had good luck with is so far, he has also swaped the engine atleast 4 times, one time was to put a built engine in place of a good stocker.
One thing he never did was talk s#!t about other cars. He had a reason.
I told the guy at my shop that i'm sticking with pistons.
Reliability.
