Question about single turbo setups...
On a single turbo setup I know that the turbo is usually ran off of the driver side header, but is their a crossover pipe from the passenger side header that feeds the turbo also so that all 8cyl. are spooling the turbo? And if their was a crossover pipe wouldn't this create a bottleneck on the exhaust outlet if it is anything under 4in. downpipe? I could under stand having dual 3in. downpipes on a TT setup without a restriction, but on a single wouldn't create a bottleneck?
On a side note, I know that their arn't any godd high horsepower single turbo kits for lt1's out there designed for 900+ hp. But are there any shops out there that will do purely custom setups if you have the $? Does anybody know of any that do this kind of work for LT1's?
Thanks for your time all responses are welcome,

all the single turbo kits have a crossover pipe.
it would not work properly on only one bank of cylinders, so it HAS to have a crossover, or both banks feed directly into the turbo.
as for the downpipe, that depends on your power......there are plenty of cars (not just fbodys) running 500+ rwhp on a single 3" downpipe. im not sure how much you need for 900rwhp.

Just for reference Pro 5.0 cars have been restricted to a single 4" exhaust for the last two years and they still make 2400hp. I would think you can easily make 1/2 that with a single 3".
Proturbo systems makes an LT1 race kit, it's kinda pricey but it's nice. http://www.proturbokits.com/

Yea, no kidding. If one turbo can effectively do this....

....why do some people feel they "need" twin turbos on a street car? Shoot I know of a few single turbo V6s and V8s that are "streetable" 8 and 9 sec machines. Many 800+hp turbo cars (be it V8s or V6s) are still using 3.5in downpipes on single setups without backpressure problems. Your turbine's A/R rating has a lot to do with that.
Are PTK's race kits custom built-to-order?
