Question about head ports being smaller than the intake ports!
Question about head ports being smaller than the intake ports!
Ok guys im tring to finish my build up, I bought a ported intake, and ported heads from different people. And my intake ports are larger than my head ports. I would say there is prolly atleast a 1/16 lip all the way around where the head port is smaller than the intake port. Obviously this is not ideal, and it would be better if the head port was larger. But will it really make that big of a difference? I know it will create some turbulance, but how much will it affect it? Intake is a majorly ported lt4, heads are ported Afr 220's, and I'm looking to run 20+psi. I have lt4 race gaskets and the head ports are about the same size, and the intake ports are larger!

Everywhere you cut corners gives up a tiny bit of hp. If you're running that much boost I've got a feeling that it'll make power anyway
The intake is easy enough to change later, I'd run it if I had to.

With 20 Psi I doubt it will matter that much...thats a lot of air waiting to get into the cylinders.
If you have ported heads already and its still 1/16th shy of the intake all around how close are the 1/3, 5/7 etc ports on the intake? They have to be pretty close I would think.

i think the afr gaskets fit better than the lt4 gm gaskets. i am using them on ported afr 210s and ported lt4. just wanted to thow that out there, afr also recommends not using gm gaskets
