Puzzled with hp numbers and actually driving car

Have been reading a lot of threads on HP levels and cars with huge dyno numbers but I am puzzled. My car makes just over 500 rear wheel and 490 torque I have all the usual parts like lower control arms, sfc, 12 bolt, torque arm, Competition eng rear shocksand the car also has a tubular K frame lightened bumpers no insulation, 6 speed 3.73.

On a new BFG 315 drag radial on 11 inch rim the car will not hook up. From a roll 1st will just flash to limiter 2nd is the same and 3rd is a spin hook.

How are you guys making more than 500 hp driving your cars either I am doing somthing seriously wrong or the big numbers are for track or dyno use only.

Can a supercharged F body be made to work on the street or is a track the only place my car will work.

My friends 580 RWHP 6 speed car I helped build was very streetable.. It hit a 1.8 60ft and ran 11.32@129 on Firehawk street tires.. He had the basics 12 bolt,LCAs, PHR,Eibach pro kit, ect. Of course he would have easily hit 10s on slicks, but that ws not his intention of building the car.. It was a daily driver with cold a/c and near stock idle quality..

3.73 might be too much gear for street driving. Not sure as to why your car will not hook at all, but I am sure you can figure out your problems and get some traction for the street. It is possible.

The only way a 500+rwhp 4th gen will "dead hook" is on a PREPPED track with sticky tires. On the street, you can forget WOT in the lower gears. Remember, the throttle is rheostat and not an on-off switch!

If you do your own tuning you could use a drag racing trick and lower your timing and gradually bring it up to redline. ET streets is a good idea if you don't spend a lot of time on the highway

you will have to learn to drive the car. Like Rich said, its not gonna "dead hook" unless you are on real tires.

I drove 660rwhp everyday, with a turbo (more low end "shove" than a blower) and I have no problems being WOT all over town (cept the gas bills!)

That's like telling a crackhead to smoke slow.

I have learned to slowly roll on the throtlle, it was a little easier to drive last year with more cam 236 248 vs 224 236 and I did run 11.3 11.4 with a 1.9 short at 128 it just seems other cars work a little better on the street.

Can a f body ever work as well as a corvette, with a nitto modifyed vettes with 380rwhp just seem to jump without even spinning.

Its nice making huge supercharger turbo torque on the dyno but its tough dealing with it.
